Oh heck yeah!

vzw_joblinkAccording to a recent job posting on the Verizon Careers board, the nation’s largest carrier is looking for an Android Device Expert.  This is the first indication that the provider might be gearing up to release handsets or services based on Android.

…It will be responsible for end to end delivery of innovative java based mobile applications on existing or pre-commercial handsets with an initial focus on voicemail applications. It is also expected to drive application development; conduct required testing and provides production support…

The posting goes on to mention that “experience with RIM JDK is a big plus.”  We’re not too sure what that means, but we’ll be paying close attention.  It might be a long time before any of this turns into real world stuff like handset announcements or initiatives.  Still, it’s more than we’re getting out of AT&T.
