It looks as though our fears that Scarlett Johansson would be joining the Iron Man 2 have been realized. Several media outlets are reporting that she has signed on to star as Black Widow in the highly anticipated sequel. To take the sting out of that casting decision, the same outlets mention that Mickey Rourke will be in the film after all as the villainous Whiplash. Marvel must’ve upped their offer after our repeated pleas for them to do so.
So, what do you think? Can Scarlett Johansson portray a comic book character without being annoying? Her role in The Spirit doesn’t have us convinced. Rourke, on the other hand, will be a smashing Whiplash. Perhaps his majesty will distract from Johansson’s inability to handle a foreign accent.
